Remember that dark erotica debut novel that sold 10,000 copies in 10 days? Author Jade West recently released book two in the series and experienced the same deluge of sales. Jade’s recipe for success seems to be a quality product with a good team behind it.
“When Dirty Bad Wrong was released back in February I spent days staring at the Amazon rankings with my jaw on the floor. I couldn’t quite believe it was happening to me, a title in the Amazon top 100, peaking at number 68 and selling 10,000 copies in 10 days. It was a dream. A crazy, fantastic dream.
And so the dream continues as once again I sit with my jaw on the floor. Dirty Bad Savage released on June 9th, four months after its predecessor and boy did it climb. It’s done me proud, and I’m so incredibly grateful to everyone who bought a copy.
Savage has been in the top 100 in both the US and the UK for seven days as I write this. It also reached top 100 status in Australia and Canada. It peaked at 41 in the US a few days ago, and reached the number one slot in the UK erotic romance chart.
As for sales, well, with this release I opted for a Kindle Select title, which split the purchases between buys and borrows on Kindle Unlimited and the results have been phenomenal. Between buys and borrows Dirty Bad Savage has now surpassed Dirty Bad Wrong sales in the same initial period.
I’m one happy author. But this wasn’t a solo performance by any stretch. Jade West releases are a team effort, and I am so fortunate to have such a brilliant team.
John Hudspith, my wizardly editor, really does put the shine in the Dirty Bads. He polishes, he hones, he sharpens the pointy bits, he tells me when it’s crap and why, and he tells me when it’s great and why, and he adds strength to each and every scene. He is the second pair of eyes I count on to make the Dirty Bads just the right level of dirty bad.
I’m always gushing about Johnny, and rightly so. He’s amazing at what he does. Not only is he amazing, but he works tirelessly, to my often zany and impulsive timeframes, always going the extra mile in the process.
But that’s just the beginning. The talented Letitia Hasser of RBA designs constructs the beautiful Dirty Bad covers, making sure they are just right for the virtual shelves. My lovely PAs Tracy Smith Comerford and Shweta Choudhary work their awesome little butts off on promo, and my incredible street team, managed by Michelle McGinty and Lesley Edwards come charging in to spread the Dirty Bad word.
And then we have the immense awesome that is the Indie book scene, the amazing bloggers who support my work, my fellow authors who help get the word out, and of course the readers. My fabulous readers who take time to share, and talk, and comment and review and help get Dirty Bad noticed.
Thank you so much to my very special team. You’ve helped this author live her dream.
And thank you especially, Mr Hudspith, both me and the Dirty Bads love you big time.”
Thank you, Jade.
Jade has the Midas touch. She chooses her team wisely and puts huge effort into both the product and the promotion. She’s come up with a great storyline for a third Dirty Bad and the editing process will soon begin. I expect another huge success.
